Tour Description
Discover the lives of Roman soldiers, explore Housesteads Roman Fort—one of Britain's best-preserved Roman forts—and enjoy a scenic 2-mile guided walk along Hadrian's Wall with interactive activities and spectacular views. We'll begin inside Housesteads Roman Fort, where you'll wander through ancient barracks, granaries and communal toilets while uncovering the stories of the soldiers and families who once lived here. We'll then head onto Hadrian's Wall itself, taking in some of Northumberland's most breathtaking scenery before visiting one of the Wall's remarkably preserved milecastles. Along the way, you'll handle an authentic Roman artefact, take part in fun activities such as Hadrian's Wall Bingo, and hear fascinating stories that bring the Roman frontier to life. With a maximum of eight guests, every tour is relaxed, personal and interactive. We provide walking poles and binoculars, capture your day with photos and videos, and create a personalised highlight reel for you to keep and share. Ideal for families, history lovers and anyone looking for a shorter introduction to Hadrian's Wall. Children under 4 go free. Please note that dogs are not permitted inside Housesteads Roman Fort.

Terms & Conditions General: To make the most of the day, tours begin promptly at the scheduled start time. If you expect to be delayed, please call or text your guide as soon as possible. We can wait up to 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. After this, the tour will begin, and late arrivals will be treated as a no-show (non-refundable). Cancellations & Rescheduling: You may cancel up to 24 hours before your tour for a refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour are non-refundable. To reschedule, please email curiuscompass@gmail.com at least 24 hours before your tour. One complimentary reschedule per booking is available within this timeframe. If we need to cancel (rare), you’ll have the choice of a full refund or rescheduling. Weather & Safety: Tours run in all weather, so please dress appropriately. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you with alternatives. Keep an eye on your email for any last-minute updates, particularly in unsettled weather. Health & Fitness: This tour covers uneven and undulating terrain. A good level of fitness is recommended to enjoy the walk comfortably. Sturdy walking shoes or boots are essential. Walking poles are available on request. Guests should bring weather-appropriate clothing, a refillable water bottle, snacks/lunch, and any personal medication. Please let us know in advance if you have health concerns, mobility issues, or specific needs—we’ll do our best to support you. Other Notes No-shows cannot be refunded or rescheduled. Please arrive on time to ensure you enjoy the full experience.
