Our Mission

At Curius Compass, we believe Hadrian’s Wall should be for everyone. Our tours are flexible by design, with thoughtful touches and clear route details that give you the confidence to set out knowing you’ll be supported every step of the way. Walking a trail should feel inspiring, not intimidating, and we’re here to make sure you feel welcome from the very first step.

Inclusivity

We welcome guests from all walks of life. We’re trained in LGBTQ+ awareness, autism awareness, and age awareness, and we’re committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, included and at ease.

When you book, you can share your pronouns — and we’ll use them. We’ll also let you know in advance if a route might include busier areas, unexpected noises or it's especially windy in areas. We'll also point out quieter spaces along the way. Weather updates are always shared ahead of time, and we’re happy to adapt plans so you feel comfortable and confident outdoors.

On the Trail

Every tour is shaped around the group. From gentle three-mile strolls to multi-day hikes, we adapt pace, distance and terrain so the walk feels right for you.

Walking poles are provided — a real game-changer on the trails — offering extra stability and confidence whether you’re new to walking or experienced. We can also adjust routes to include fewer inclines, extra rest stops or quieter paths.

If you have mobility, sensory, or neurodiverse needs, we’re always happy to discuss them in advance and adapt wherever possible.

Safety First

Your safety is always a priority. We are outdoor first-aid trained and check conditions in advance of every walk, adapting routes on the day if needed. Each experience is designed so that every guest feels safe, cared for, and confident from start to finish.

Beyond the Trails

Accessibility doesn’t stop when the walk ends. We can recommend inclusive accommodation, dining, and attractions, and our tour start times are planned so you can travel by public transport. Pick-ups to the start of the walk are also available.

Our website and digital content are being developed to meet recognised accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), including screen-reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, alt text for images, and clear, readable language.

Communication

If you have specific access needs or questions — whether booking a tour, joining a walk, or exploring our site — please get in touch. We’re always happy to listen, adapt, and improve.

Our Promise

Accessibility is a journey, not a checkbox. At Curius Compass, we honour people for who they are, respect your right to choose your pronouns, and celebrate diversity in all its forms. We recognise and value different ways of experiencing the world, and we strive to create space where every guest feels seen, respected, and inspired by the journey. If there’s anything we haven’t considered, or ways we can do better, we’d love to hear from you. Your feedback and insights help us make our experiences better for everyone.
