Do I need survival skills to join?

Not at all! The tour is designed for fun. You don’t need bushcraft or zombie-fighting experience—just a bit of curiosity and a sense of adventure.

What is an Apocalypse Survival Tour?

It’s a guided walk along Hadrian’s Wall that mixes real Roman history with fictional end-of-the-world survival scenarios. You’ll face challenges, solve dilemmas, and test your teamwork in a fun, immersive adventure.

How difficult is the walk?

No — the tour is suitable for people with a small amount of fitness. The route is about 2 miles with a couple of short climbs, two stiles, and a mix of uneven paths and grassy areas. Walking poles are available if you’d like extra support.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel up to 24 hours before your tour for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start time are non-refundable. Group bookings (5 or more) may cancel or reschedule up to 7 days before the tour for a full refund.

What should I Wear?

We recommend sturdy footwear such as hiking boots or walking shoes but trainers are fine. Bring a waterproof jacket just in case.

We can also provide hats, gloves, buffs, scarves and a blanket for the car in colder months as well as sun protection and visors in warmer months.

Filming for 28 Years Later took place in several locations in Northumberland such as Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Kielder Forest, Rothbury, Plankey Mill Farm, and Bellingham.

Did Sycamore Gap feature in the 28 Years Later film?

Yes — Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall appears at the beginning of 28 Years Later. A CGI version of the iconic tree was created as the tree was felled before the film was shot. Danny Boyle said it was included as "a wonderful tribute".

Is the tour scary?

No — all of the challenges are light-hearted and designed to be fun. There may be some sound effects and the occasional moderate unexpected noise to set the scene, but nothing extreme. There are no jump scares or actors jumping out at you. For private bookings, we can adapt the experience with neurodivergent-friendly options and alternative challenges to make sure everyone feels comfortable.
