Tour Description
This 3 hour tour offers stunning views, fascinating Roman ruins, and the chance to uncover hidden gems and local stories. You'll even have the rare opportunity to walk on the only section of Hadrian’s Wall where it’s allowed. We’ll begin at the Sill National Discovery Center and take the scenic AD122 bus to Housesteads, maximizing our time to explore iconic sites and take in panoramic vistas. To complete your unforgettable experience, you’ll get to hold a genuine Roman artifact and receive a bespoke memento as a keepsake. As each tour is limited to six people, we design the experience to your pace and interests and offer walking poles for your comfort, binoculars for wildlife spotting, and regular stops along the way. As proud locals, we share insider knowledge and top recommendations to make your visit truly exceptional. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome to join in on the adventure. Cancellation Policy
General: Maximum group size: 6 guests (unless prior arrangements have been made). For groups of 7 or more, or to arrange a private tour, please email curiuscompass@gmail.com or complete our contact form. Meeting Point & Timing This tour begins by catching the AD122 Hadrian’s Wall Country Bus outside the Sill. The bus departs at 10:15 am. Please arrive by 10 am to ensure you don’t miss it. If you arrive late, you may be able to catch the bus on its loop back from Vindolanda at 10:22 am. Alternatively, you can meet us directly at Housesteads Roman Fort at 10:30 am. After this point we will not be able to wait, and late arrivals will be treated as a no-show (non-refundable). Cancellations & Rescheduling: You may cancel up to 24 hours before your tour for a refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour are non-refundable. To reschedule, please email curiuscompass@gmail.com at least 24 hours before your tour. One complimentary reschedule per booking is available within this timeframe. If we need to cancel (rare), you’ll have the choice of a full refund or to reschedule. Weather & Safety: Tours run in all weather, so please dress appropriately. Hiking/Walking boots, walking shoes (with good grip), or trail shoes are recommended. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you with alternatives. Keep an eye on your email for any last-minute updates, especially in unsettled weather. Fitness & Terrain: This tour covers around 3.5 miles of walking with visits to key highlights along Hadrian’s Wall. Terrain includes uneven paths, grassy areas, stone steps, and some undulations. A reasonable level of mobility and fitness is recommended to enjoy the walk comfortably. Sturdy walking shoes are essential; walking poles are available on request. Please let us know in advance if you have health concerns, mobility issues, or specific needs—we’ll do our best to support you. Other Notes: No-shows cannot be refunded or rescheduled. Please arrive on time to ensure you enjoy the full experience. Bring water, weather-appropriate clothing, and any personal medication you may need.
