End of the Wall: Survival Tour
A 2-mile adventure on Hadrian’s Wall—part guided walk, part apocalyptic survival game.
Tour Description
Step into a three-hour immersive adventure along a dramatic stretch of Hadrian’s Wall, starting at Cawfields Quarry near Haltwhistle. Here, sweeping views meet fictional chaos. Inspired by our favourite apocalyptic films and TV shows, this guided experience blends interactive storytelling, lighthearted survival games, and team-based challenges—seasoned with a dash of Roman history. Along the way, you’ll take part in activities that involve decision-making, problem-solving, and working as a team. Some involve gentle movement, observation, or creativity—others just require a sense of humour and a bit of imagination. You won’t be acting out full scenes or running from pretend zombies, but you will be making choices under pressure, helping your group navigate dilemmas, and staying alert for twists along the trail. Perfect for groups, work socials, hen and stag dos, big birthdays—or anyone after a fun, memorable day out. Ages 11–18 are welcome (max three per paying adult). Optional Add-on: Finish your experience at the Milecastle Inn with a well-earned drink (included), a post-apocalyptic quiz, and some not-so-serious prizes: Best Dressed, Most Points, and Most Likely to Survive the Apocalypse. Optional food is available to purchase. Getting here & parking By car: Free parking is available at Cawfields Quarry Car Park—arrive early to secure your spot on weekends. Public transport: The experience aligns with the 8:30 am AD122 bus from Hexham. Return: Buses depart from the Milecastle Inn at 2:07, 4:07, and 6:07 pm—plenty of time to stop for a drink or a wander. The route is a 2‑mile loop with uneven terrain, a short steep incline, and two stiles. There are frequent stops and a mid-walk break to refuel. All activities are optional, and you’re welcome to observe rather than participate at any time. A moderate activity level is recommended—if you can handle a countryside walk with a few ups and downs, you’ll be just fine. The experience is designed for groups of 2–10. Neurodivergent-friendly options are available for private groups, and we’re happy to adapt the experience to suit your needs. Not sure if it’s for you? Drop us a message—we’ll help you plan a day that’s anything but ordinary.
